The Plumbing Notebooks
Starting in the late 1990s, Jennings carried a small notebook in the back pocket of his jeans and would sketch in it while waiting for plumbing inspectors, sitting at the breakfast table or riding the subway to a job site. This is a random sampling of his drawings, some of which serve as “sketches” for scenes he later filmed. Several sketches below, for example, relate to Jennings’ film, “Close Quarters.”
Drawings of 240 President Street, 2nd Floor, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (an apartment shared by Jennings and Heinz Emigholz), 1975.
